ASSISTANT ANALYST
City Administration
Salary:  $32.98 - $49.47/hr.


DESCRIPTION
The City of Thousand Oaks has an excellent opportunity for an individual to support and plan community activities and special events.  We are seeking a collaborative, self-starter to conduct a variety of responsibilities with competence and professionalism.  The Assistant Analyst must exercise discretion and independent judgment, be highly organized, have demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle issues with sensitivity and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  The Assistant Analyst will also provide analytic, technical, programmatic and administrative support to a broad range of City initiatives.
 
Primary responsibilities:   
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the strategic plan for community activities and special events involving multiple City departments
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of events from start to finish and ensure efficient management of multiple project plans to meet deadlines
  • Work independently and as a valuable team player on special projects by organizing, researching and coordinating information and requirements; planning, arranging, and meeting schedules
  • Coordinate and schedule various meetings and events.  Organize meeting information, prepare materials, facilitate when required
  • Provide support for a broad range of initiatives, programs and projects under the responsibility of the City Manager’s Office 

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate should possess:
  • A Bachelor’s degree with major course work in public administration, business administration, marketing or a related field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated ability to produce excellent results and meet deadlines while working autonomously on multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to identify alternative solutions, consequences or proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of established goals
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Two or more years of responsible administrative and/or programmatic support experience, including at least one year of research, administrative or analytic experience.  Experience related to event planning, community activities and project coordination in a municipal government setting is highly desirable  
  • A valid class C California driver’s license
