About the Position
The City of Bishop is seeking an experienced, approachable, and versatile City Administrator who thrives in a small, team-oriented environment and is comfortable “wearing many hats.” The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader who works directly with a capable staff and a supportive, effective City Council.
This key role is responsible for overseeing all administrative functions of the City, including planning, organizing, and directing operations across departments. The City Administrator provides high-level support to the City Council, exercises independent judgment in managing staff and services, and also serves as Planning Director, Personnel Director, and Community Services Director.
Ideal Candidate
In addition to being ethical, well qualified, and experienced, the next City Administrator should possess certain traits that will be essential for success, such as:

Experience: At least 8 years in municipal leadership, preferably including City Manager or Assistant City Manager roles
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Public or Business Administration highly desirable

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary: up to $188,941, DOE
- Retirement:
- CalPERS 2% @ 60 (Classic), City pay employer & employee contribution or;
- 2% @ 62 (PEPRA), City pays Employer contribution only.
