The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the County of San Diego is an at-will executive level position reporting to the Board of Supervisors. This outstanding career opportunity is the result of the retirement of the former CAO, following a long-tenured and accomplished career.

The PIO works with the public and City staff wearing multiple hats, while approaching each task with tact, discretion, and professionalism.
The City of Santa Monica is seeking a well-organized, respected, and energetic professional, with an understanding of the importance of quality service in local government, to serve as its next Director of Records and Election Services (City Clerk). The City Clerk oversees the Records & Elections Department consisting of 13 staff, including the Director, and a budget of $2.8 million for fiscal year 2023-2024. The Department is organized into three divisions: Administration, Elections, and Support Services.
Under general direction, relieves the County Executive of administrative detail by providing unusually difficult and complex secretarial and administrative support services; works with the public and Board offices to resolve issues and concerns; provides information or directs questions and requests to the appropriate staff; and supervises, assigns, reviews, and coordinates the work of secretarial, clerical, and office administrative staff. Works under stringent deadlines.

Under general guidance, oversees all City Clerk functions and activities, including the conduct of elections, the custody and access of public records, Council and Commission actions, the legal notification of various Council, commission, and committee meetings, and the preparation of agenda materials and minutes for public meetings; plans, organizes, manages, continuously improves, and provides administrative direction.
*Per the Head Start Act, this position is subject to a salary cap equal to the Executive Level II salary set by the US Office of Personnel Management. OPM is expected to increase said salary on January 1, 2024.
