In November 2016, a group of felons at the Coalinga State Hospital helped tilt the outcome of a campaign to increase the city’s sales tax. Now, the city is suing to void the results of the election, which resulted in the termination of dozens of city employees.
The Coalinga State Hospital is home to more than 1,000 sexually violent predators and other individuals with severe psychiatric illnesses.
