Community Development Director

About the Position:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as the Community Development Director, overseeing planning, building and safety, and directing the planning and building operations and activities of the City. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with an understanding of urban planning, zoning laws, building codes and community development strategies. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the City’s growth is safe, sustainable and inclusive while balancing the needs of residents and businesses. 

Assistant Community Development Director (Housing & Economic Development, Including Homeless Services, Advanced Planning, and Project Implementation)

The City of Salinas is the 33rd largest city in the state with a population of over 161,000 and is in beautiful Monterey County, California. Salinas has great career opportunities for two Assistant Community Development Directors. In collaboration with the Community Development Director, these positions will plan, organize, direct, and manage the day-to-day activities and operations of the Community Development Department and assist in the overall management of the department to support the Director.
