Director of Development Services

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under general direction of the City Manager, serves as an integral member of the Executive Management Team; plans, organizes, directs, advises and evaluates the activities of the Development Services Department; administers City-wide long-range and current planning, economic development, housing, building inspection and permitting and development coordination; performs highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager and Planning Commission, and performs related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Deputy Public Works Director

Located between San Francisco and Sonoma wine country, spanning 28 square miles, the City of Novato (pop. 53,000) is the northernmost city in Marin County. Novato offers a rural atmosphere with an extensive amount of open space. The City of Novato Public Works Department manages the planning, construction, maintenance and operations of all city rights-of-way, properties, and facilities. The Deputy Public Works Director oversees the Engineering Division including the City’s Capital Improvement Program.

City Manager
