City Engineer

Escondido lies 30 miles northeast of San Diego and 100 miles south of Los Angeles, just 18 miles from the coast. The City Engineer reports to the Director of Development Services and oversees 27 FTEs in the Engineering Services Division consisting of CIP, land development, traffic and inspection, with a FY 23-24 operating budget of $3.2 million and a CIP budget of $20 million.

The Assistant Director will lead the Current and Long-Range Planning functions and serve as a technical expert on land use development.

Deputy Director of Public Works – City Engineer

Conveniently located in the heart of Orange County, the vibrant City of Tustin (pop. 79,558) is known for offering an exceptional quality of life. The Deputy Director of Public Works – City Engineer oversees the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department, with 12 full-time employees, a $1.7 million operating budget, and capital projects totaling $50-$60 million each year. 

Community Planning & Building Director

The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea (population approximately 4,000) is recruiting nationally for a highly experienced Community Planning and Building Director to manage the day-to-day activities of 9 full-time highly capable staff with a Departmental budget of approximately $2.2 million. The Department of Community Planning and Building (Planning, Building and Code Compliance) is responsible for land-use management, construction activities, enforcement, and environmental quality in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Assistant Public Works Director - Water

Known as the “Pride of the Foothills,” the City of Glendora (pop.52,588), is located approximately 27 miles from downtown Los Angeles. The Public Works Department is supported by an annual FY2023-24 budget of $27 million and 45 staff. Reporting to the Public Works Director, the Assistant Public Works Director – Water provides leadership and oversight for the Water Division.
