The Position

The Deputy Public Works Director-Utilities is an at-will, senior management position. 

The Deputy Director works under the general direction of the Public Works Director and is responsible for the City's utility enterprises and environmental programs. The Deputy Director participates both as a member of the Department's Management Team and City's Senior Department Management Team in policy development, administrative planning, and addressing of department problems; and provides highly responsible and complex support to upper management. 

Principal Civil Engineer

THE POSITION

Under the direction of the Director of General Services, serves in a technical as well as an administrative capacity and may be responsible for directing the preparation and coordination of studies, economic evaluations, designs, plans, official cost estimates, specifications, construction and field activities for a wide variety of civil engineering projects and compliance with the City’s laws regarding work within the public right-of-way and/or land development.

Traffic Engineer/ Deputy Public Works Director

The City of San Rafael is seeking a Traffic Engineer/Deputy Public Works Director.  The successful candidate will be an accomplished leader who possesses complex project management and exceptional communication skills.  The Traffic Engineer will have experience managing public works traffic engineering and land development projects, strong fiscal and business acumen, proven leadership experience, and a strong customer focus.

City Engineer (Deputy Director)

The Position

The City Engineer (Deputy Director) is responsible for planning, directing, supervising and reviewing the activities of the Public Works Engineering Division, which includes Building and Safety, and to provide professional and technical staff assistance that directly supports the Public Works Director. The City Engineer (Deputy Director) will manage division operations and projects and supervise professional and technical engineering and building and safety staff and serve as an important advisor to the Director.
